Beef Jerky and Teething

Beef jerky for teething? I'm not kidding.

The other day I was at the pool talking to another mom about how my son was teething. She told me that she just gave her kids all cold beef jerky out of the fridge and it worked every time. ??? Yeah, that's what I thought, too. Somehow, I don't want to know what she did for colic or diaper rash.

Either way, it's amazing now that my son is getting his teeth what ideas people have for how to ease his pain. From frozen carrots to beef jerky and from Tylenol to homeopathics there are a lot of opinions out there.

Here is a cute little pic of my son's two bottom teeth. He is currently getting three teeth on the top at the same time. Poor little guy. If you have any tips for me on how to ease his distress, please let me know.
Thanks.
Here is an update for those of you following along.

As you can see from the pic on the left, the top three teeth are making their way through. Keep up the good work Jonas!

A couple of things that worked for us...

Our nurse told us when Mason was teething to take a q-tip and put some liquid benadryl on the end of it and then rub it over his gums. This way it would help the pain without numbing his mouth. That worked for him VERY well! She said that the tiny amount that he would get on his gums wouldn't hurt him and we could do it as necessary.

With Sadie we got some of those teething tablets (from Walmart or a pharmacy) and they worked very well for her and are easy. They are natural and they dissolve in their mouths. We'd carry that bottle around in her diaper bag with us so that we'd always have them when we needed them and they came in very handy!

Good luck! Teething time is no fun and it seems to go on forever!

Yeah, there are a lot of ways to make your son's teeth growth a less painful experience, and using beef jerky is one of it. When my cousin's kid had his first tooth out, she also used frozen carrots to ease the pain.
